About VLBI

Victorious Living Bible Institute, Inc. (VLBI), an affiliate of Christian Bible Institute and Seminary, is a nondenominational online Bible institute and college with a rich history and a commitment to equipping individuals with the Word of God. VLBI operates as part of the Christian Education Department of The Upper Room Outreach Ministries, Inc., based in Waycross, Georgia. VLBI was founded by Dr. Renae Sellers and Samuel Sellers on July 25, 2017. Dr. Renae Sellers had a passionate vision for teaching the Word of God, and with the support of her husband and church community, VLBI became a reality. The first students commenced their studies in January 2018, initially in person and on conference calls.

On August 18, 2018, VLBI formed a partnership with Greater Victory Fellowship Kenya, offering onsite classes to Kenya students with Bishop Emmanuel B. Simiyu, a graduate of Beulah Heights University in Atlanta, Georgia, as the lead instructor. The Kenya Campus was officially launched on April 27, 2019, and the first VLBI Kenya Commencement took place in December 2021.

The Online Learning Center was introduced in the fall of 2019, enabling students to access courses from anywhere in the world. In March 2020, VLBI transitioned to online learning exclusively, adapting to virtual classes in response to the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

In 2020, VLBI achieved certification as a training center for the National Association of Christian Counselors, offering certifications in Christian Counseling, Christian Coaching, and other certificate courses.

U.S. Department of Education Accreditation:

It's important to note that while many professions may require degrees from institutions with accreditation from the U.S. Department of Education (USDE), theological degrees, as offered by VLBI, often do not necessitate such accreditation.

Accreditation Considerations:

  • USDE Accreditation Not Required: The theological degrees offered at VLBI may not require U.S. Department of Education (USDE) accreditation. This is particularly relevant for individuals pursuing ministry positions where USDE accreditation is generally not a mandatory criterion.

  • Government-Licensed Positions: Individuals aspiring to work in government-licensed positions, such as public school teachers, state-licensed psychologists or psychiatrists, and non-church-related counselors, may typically require USDE accredited degrees.

Victorious Living Bible Institute (VLBI) is in partnership with the National Association of Christian Counselors (NACC) and serves as a certified training center. The institute offers training for local pastors and other believers who sense the call of God to engage in counseling and Christian coaching. Upon completion of the training program, counselors receive credentials through the National Association of Christian Counselors.

The primary objectives of VLBI's counseling program are to provide assistance and support to those in need of counseling and coaching services while also offering training to individuals who aspire to help others through counseling and coaching. The program is designed to equip students with the necessary experiential learning and knowledge required to work effectively in the field of Christian counseling and Christian Coaching. Through this partnership, VLBI aims to contribute to the development of competent and compassionate Christian counselors and vibrant, outgoing, and purpose driven Christian Coaches.

Victorious Living Bible Institute (VLBI) is dedicated to preparing students for religious vocations in the areas of ministry, professional roles, or as laypersons in the field of theology. As an affiliate of Christian Bible Institute and Seminary, VLBI operates under an exemption from licensure. It is important to note that as a state-authorized theological institution, VLBI does not seek regional accreditation and, therefore, does not accept government grants or financial aid.

This approach aligns with the institution's commitment to providing theological education within the context of its religious mission and principles. Students at VLBI engage in programs designed to equip them for various roles within the theological and religious spheres, fostering a focus on ministry, professionalism, and theological understanding.
